Cody, Wyoming has the charm of an old western town with easy access to modern amenities. Cody is located in Park County, and was named after William Frederick Cody; better known as Buffalo Bill. Cody’s population is just over 8,835 keeping the cowboy culture and western history alive. Tourism is the driving force in Cody’s economy today. The local hotels, restaurants, and shops all cater to tourists, encouraging them to explore the West and of course Yellowstone National Park.

Shopping and Dining
 Shopping in Cody offers unique experiences such as the always exciting Reindeer Ranch and Col. Cody’s Gift Emporium in side The Irma offers a wide variety of unique gifts for anyone. Cody’s art galleries are some of the best. The Sierra Trading Post is also located in Cody and offers more of a modern selection of clothing, shoes, jewelry as well as outdoor gear.

Cody offers many fine and affordable dining options.  The Silver Dollar is a bar that sometimes has live entertainment, especially in the summer on there patio. A variety of styles such as rock, blues, and country can be found here. This is also another one of the bars in town that has pool tables available. You are less likely to find cowboys, but you will find all different types of folks hanging out around this bar including a lot of locals, who not only enjoy their night out here, but also the Silver Dollar hamburgers.
You do not want to miss the historic Irma Hotel for a meal. Other local eateries in Cody include  La Comida Mexican, Proud Cut Saloon, Wyoming Rib & Chop and Adriano’s Italian Restaurant to name only a few.

Parks and Recreation
  Cody is just an hour’s drive from the majestic Yellowstone National Park, which is over 2 million acres of spectacular natural wonders such as geysers, mud pots, and buffalo at just an arms length. Yellowstone offers a wide range of outdoor activities including fishing, walking, hiking and camping. The Buffalo Bill National State Park is a local favorite offering fishing, hunting, bird watching, camping and even wind surfing. 

The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is a world renowned museum located in Cody as it illustrates the spirit and stories of the past and the American West through showcasing paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts including the most comprehensive collection of American made firearms in the world.

 

 

 Old Trail Town is a museum consisting of a collection of more than 25 historic western buildings and artifacts dating back from 1879 to 1901 located in Cody. The museum is open May through September and features a general store, school house, and cemetery. In part with the cowboy heritage, Cody hosts a nightly rodeo from June through August. Festivities include calf roping, bulldogging, and calf scrambling as well as many other games and competitions with some of the nation’s finest cowboys.

Education
 Cody is in the Park County School District No. 6. There are three k-5 schools, two middle schools and Cody High School. The district serves 2,156 students. Northwest Community College is located in Powell just 20 miles east of Cody and offers a wide variety of associates degrees and professional certificates. West Park Hospital is home of the School of Radiology Technology and offers an Emergency Medical Technician Program. And the University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, WY.

Health
 West Park Hospital is located in Cody on Sheridan Ave. West Park is a full service medical center serving Cody and the surrounding communities throughout the Big Horn Basin area. West Park boasts a state-of-the art acute care facility, a long term care center and a chemical dependency center.
